Dr. A.M. Musyoki is a medical virologist (PhD in Medical Virology), senior lecturer, and vaccinologist in the Department of Microbiological Pathology at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University in Pretoria. He also serves as the Deputy Head of the South African Vaccination and Immunisation Centre (SAVIC).

His research interests span the broad fields of infectious disease epidemiology and antimicrobial resistance. Dr. Musyoki has extensive experience in viral genetic epidemiology and drug resistance—particularly in HIV, HBV, HCV, and SARS-CoV-2—as well as in bacterial genotypic epidemiology and antimicrobial resistance surveillance, focusing on pathogens such as Acinetobacter baumannii, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Vibrio cholerae, and Escherichia coli. His work also includes wastewater surveillance for emerging infectious threats.

In addition to conducting independent research, Dr. Musyoki supervises postgraduate students across multiple academic levels, including BSc, MSc, MMed, MDent, and PhD. He currently leads a multidisciplinary research team investigating various aspects of antimicrobial resistance.
