Dr Maemu Gededzha

Dr. Gededzha is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Virology at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University. She previously held several leadership roles, including Acting Head, Senior Medical Scientist, and Researcher in the Division of Immunology at the National Health Laboratory Service and the University of the Witwatersrand.
She holds a PhD in Medical Virology from the University of Limpopo (Medunsa Campus) and has a strong academic and research interest in virology, immunology, and bioinformatics. Her research portfolio includes molecular epidemiology, host-pathogen interactions, and the validation of diagnostic assays for high-burden viral infections.
Dr. Gededzha has authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications and has mentored numerous intern medical scientists and postgraduate students in the fields of immunology, virology, and molecular biology, supervising research across a wide range of topics.
She has served as an Academic Editor for PLOS ONE and has contributed to several scientific conference organizing committees, including those of the South African Immunology Society and PATHRED.
